Every Tuesday this summer, a new program in the Delton area will keep kids and adults busy. Sponsored by Orangeville Community Outreach and the Delton parent group, Partners in Education (PIE). Delton Summer Fun is a free day of food and fun. Last Tuesday, June 14, more than 40 area kids with accompanying adults participated. The program includes free breakfasts funded through a Delton Kellogg food service grant; programs through Barry County 4-H and MSU Extension; Delton District Library crafts and a summer reading program; a community garden sponsored by PIE; free lunches funded through the Delton Kelog food service grant; YMCA and Pennock Health and Wellness Center active play. Transportation is being provided by Barry County Transit, with pick-up at selected locations and limited availability. Volunteers are provided by the Barry Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council, PIE and Orangeville Community Outreach. Residents can join the fun every Tuesday from 8:30am to 1:30pm at the Delton Kellogg Elementary School and the Delton District Library (no program July 5).
